Where to Eat in Taos Ski Valley with Kids (Tried & Loved!)

By Cate Camacho, Publisher of Macaroni KID Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Golden and Macaroni KID Boulder March 20, 2026

If you’re heading to Taos Ski Valley with kids, one question comes up fast: where are we actually going to eat that everyone will enjoy?

After spending time on the mountain with my family, I can confidently say you don’t have to sacrifice great food for kid-friendly options. We found two standout spots that delivered both: one perfect for a cozy, sit-down meal, and one ideal for a more elevated (but still totally doable with kids!) dining experience.

Here’s where we ate… And would absolutely go back again:

The Bavarian Restaurant: Cozy, Fun, and Kid-Approved

If you’re looking for that classic ski lodge feel, The Bavarian Restaurant is it.

From the moment you walk in, it feels warm, welcoming, and just a little bit magical, especially after a long day on the slopes.

What we loved:

  • The cozy, cabin-style atmosphere (perfect for warming up)
  • A menu that feels fun and different from your typical ski resort food
  • Plenty of shareable options (huge win with kids)

What to order:

  • Cheese fondue (a MUST—kids go wild for this)
  • Giant pretzels
  • Schnitzel or sausages for a hearty, filling meal

This was one of those meals where everyone at the table was happy… Which, let’s be honest, is the real goal.

Parent tip: Go early or be prepared for a wait. This place is popular for a reason.

192 at The Blake: Elevated Dining That Still Works with Kids

If you’re staying in or near the main village, 192 at The Blake is such a gem.

It’s a more elevated dining experience, but don’t let that intimidate you. We brought our kids, and it still felt comfortable and welcoming.

What we loved:

  • Beautiful, modern mountain atmosphere
  • High-quality, locally inspired food
  • A great option when you want something a little more special

What to expect:

  • Thoughtfully crafted dishes (this is your “treat yourself” dinner)
  • Friendly staff who made our kids feel included—not like an afterthought
  • A relaxed but refined vibe

This is the kind of place you go when you want to slow down, enjoy a great meal, and soak in the whole Taos experience.

Final Thoughts: Yes, You Can Eat Well in Taos with Kids

Taos Ski Valley surprised me in the best way when it came to dining. You can absolutely find:

  • Food your kids will actually eat
  • Meals you’ll genuinely enjoy
  • Experiences that feel special—not stressful

Whether you’re dipping into fondue at The Bavarian or enjoying a beautiful dinner at 192, these are spots worth building into your trip.
